Georgia announces signing of 4-star DL Valdin Sone
One of Georgia’s top defensive line targets in the 2026 class is officially a Bulldog. The program announced the signing of four-star defensive lineman Valdin Sone.
The 6-foot-4, 320-pound defender played his high school ball at Blue Ridge in Dyke, Va., but he hails from Sweden. He worked out for the Georgia staff multiple times this summer, climbing to the top of the recruiting board along the interior defensive line.
The Bulldogs beat out Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and Nebraska for Sone. The program’s ability to develop defensive lineman played a big role in Sone’s decision.
“I feel like the development part I can get at Georgia is what kind of made me stay,” Sone said.” I mean, I want to do big things in life, and I feel like surrounding myself with good people is going to make me better.”

“His big point is just getting me better in development,” Sone continued. “Of course, I’m coming from Sweden with little to no football. Just getting into the Georgia way and getting to the facility and getting to meet the coaches, I feel like it’s going to make my journey and the way I play football even better.”
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average of the three websites that publish recruiting rankings, Sone is the nation’s No. 117 overall prospect and No. 13 defensive lineman. He’s also the No. 4 player in Virginia.
Sone is the fourth defensive lineman to ink with Georgia on National Signing Day. Preston Carey, a three-star prospect, went first. Next came three-star UGA legacy Carter Luckie. Four-star defensive end PJ Dean was the third to join the fold. Georgia is expected to sign five defensive linemen on National Signing Day. Clarke Central standout Anthony Lonon, a four-star prospect, is the only one unsigned at this point.
