Georgia baseball will definitely host a regional again in 2025. It is also in prime position to be a top eight seed where, should it win its regional, it will host a super regional. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 3 in the nation per Baseball America’s latest top 25. It is No. 10 according to D1 Baseball. UGA is also in possession of the nation’s No. 1 RPI.

Wes Johnson and company are coming off winning two of three against Texas A&M at Foley Field. It is the Bulldogs fifth SEC home series win of the season. The series moved Georgia’s overall record to 42-14 on the season. It is also 18-12 in the SEC. Last year UGA was a top eight seed after going 17-13 in league play.

It’ll be a fairly quick turnaround for Georgia, which hasn’t played a midweek game in a few weeks. They will take on the winner of Oklahoma and Kentucky in the SEC tournament on Wednesday. It’ll be the second game of that day with the first coming at 10:30 a.m. in Hoover. UGA is the No. 5 seed in the league tournament.

The Bulldogs played both of those teams at home in 2025 and took two of three from each of them. They also won two of three against Arkansas and Texas A&M while sweeping Auburn, which has the nation’s No. 2 RPI.

Last year’s team lost its opening game in the SEC tournament and was still granted a top-eight seed. The would likely be true of this Georgia team should it fall in the opening round. Johnson, after Saturday’s game, indicated that the Bulldogs will be looking to get their pitchers some work and their young players some at bats in the SEC tournament. It did not sound as if UGA will be going for broke to try and win the thing.

Some welcome news found Georgia over the weekend as leading hitter and middle-of-the-lineup slugger Ryland Zaborowski returned from an arm injury. He served as the designated hitter for game three of the Texas A&M series and went two for four with a couple of runs driven in. Zaborowski is now hitting .376 on the year with 16 home runs and 60 runs driven in.
