Athens, Ga – Georgia had to find a way to win a different type of game on Friday night. The Bulldogs held off Georgia Tech 92-87 to extend their winning streak to three games over the Yellow Jackets.

The Bulldogs had averaged 106 points per game in their first three wins of the season. Friday night saw a foul-fest early on. Both teams were in the double bonus before the under-8-minute timeout in the first half.

Free-throw shooting kept Georgia’s potent offense clicking. The Bulldogs shot 72.7 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs trailed early in the second half after holding a lead at halftime.

Key Moment

Georgia had a stretch in the second half in which they trailed 60-53 and climbed back into the game. A few blocks and a few steals turned into free throws until Jeremiah Wilkinson hit the first 3-pointer of the second half to cut the Georgia Tech lead to one.

Jake Wilkins’ layup of the Kareem Stagg steal put Georgia up. The Bulldogs controlled the tempo for the rest of the night. The Yellow Jackets tied the game and led again, but the Bulldogs were never down much after that stretch.

The Bulldogs went on a 21-6 run in the middle of the second half.

Key Performance

Georgia was once again led offensively by sophomore guard Jeremiah Wilkinson. The California transfer is Georgia’s leading scorer.

He put in 18 points for the Bulldogs. Wilkinson had two big dunks in transition that created some early momentum for Georgia in the first half as well.

Blue Cain was also a key piece of Georgia’s offense. He added 18 points more on the night. Jordan Ross was aggressive and put in 14 points on the night.

Georgia will be back in action at the top of next week. The Bulldogs will host Florida A&M on Monday night at Stegeman Coliseum at 6:30 p.m.
