Georgia basketball rolls over Tennessee Tech behind fast start
Athens, Ga – Georgia basketball got off to an explosive start and never looked back in Saturday’s 123-81 win over Tennessee Tech.
The Bulldogs opened on an 11-0 run. The Bulldogs maintained a double-digit lead for most of the game on the way to their seventh win of the season.
Georgia continues its roll in Stegeman Coliseum. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in Athens so far this season.
The Key moment
Georgia put Saturday’s game away with two runs that bookended the first half. The aforementioned 11-0 run that opened the game put Tennessee Tech in a permanent hole that they were unable to climb out of.
The Bulldogs ended the half on a 31-15 run over the last 7:08 of the first half.
Georgia also came out and continued its aggressive 3-point shooting. Those runs included multiple made threes. The Bulldogs were 21-43 from the 3-point line on the night.

The Bulldogs played fast all night. Georgia closed the game with 44 fastbreak points.
Georgia’s defense had a bounceback performance as well. The Bulldogs gave up 97 points in an overtime loss to Clemson. The Bulldogs held Tennessee Tech to just 43 percent shooting on the night. Georgia forced 1x turnovers and turned that into 17 points.
The Key Performer
Georgia got a big boost from a quartet of transfers.
The offense was led offensively by Smurf Millender on his 21st birthday. The junior scored 23 points and handed out seven assists on Saturday. That was a season high for him in his first season at Georgia.
Georgia’s leading scorer, Jeremiah Wilkinson, continued his strong start in Athens. He had 20 points along with six assists for the Bulldogs. Sophomore Kanon Catchings added 17 points as well. Justin Bailey scored 15 points.
Another transfer, Jordan Ross, was also in double digits. Ross had 12 points.
What’s next?
Georgia will hit the road for its first on-campus road game of the season on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs will travel to Tallahassee to face Florida State at 9 p.m.
