Georgia bolsters safety ranks with four-star Zech Fort
Four-star safety Zech Fort had the likes of Michigan, Notre Dame, and Florida clamoring for his services throughout his recruitment, but ultimately, the top 200 prospect landed with the Georgia Bulldogs, officially signing with Kirby Smart’s squad on Wednesday.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 185 overall prospect in the Class of 2026, Fort is a product of Bradenton, Florida’s IMG Academy by-way-of Long Beach, California. Fort ranks as the No. 18 safety in the country per the Rivals Industry Ranking and is the No. 27 prospect in Florida per the same metric.
“Georgia produces great players. They coach up safeties and develop players. IMG is just like college and you are competing with the best, training with the best facilities and getting coached by the best coaches. That is what Georgia is on the next level. That is why a lot of IMG kids like Georgia a lot. There is a lot of correlation,” Fort told Rivals’ Chad Simmons upon committing to Georgia. “Coach Smart played safety, and he is a legend, so there is nobody better to teach me than him,” Fort said. “Coach Smart has great football knowledge and we have a great relationship. My mom likes him a lot, too. Coach Donte is there too. He is from Los Angeles and I knew him at USC. Coach T-Rob recruited me at Alabama, so our relationship goes back too. I am comfortable with the coaches and they push their players to be the best.”

At almost 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, Zech Fort is part of a deep safety class for the Bulldogs, joined by the likes of Jordan Smith and Tyriq Green.
“What led me to shut things down and lock in with Georgia is the relationship I’ve built with the staff and how I fit into the culture at Georgia,” Fort told Simmons in April. “I couldn’t see myself anywhere else.”
