According to reports, Georgia Basketball has at least one of its non-conference opponents set on its 2022-23 schedule. The Bulldogs are entering a home-and-home series with Wake Forest that begins November 11th in Winston Salem, N.C. with a return trip set for the next season.

The Demon Deacons went 25-10 last season, missing out on the NCAA Tournament but making the NIT. At the turn of the new year, Wake Forest, under the direction of Steve Forbes, was 11-2. A second round loss at the ACC Tournament did them in and sent them packing for the NIT where Wake won two games and lost to eventual runner-up Texas A&M.

Georgia will also participate in the Sunshine Slam tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla. the week of Thanksgiving in a “Beach Bracket” that also features UAB, South Florida and Saint Jospeh’s. As a part of its agreement with the tournament, the Bulldogs will host a team from the “Ocean Bracket” filled with four smaller schools prior to the start of the tournament. Georgia is also set to host Bucknell and travel to Georgia Tech for the annual in-state rivalry game.

Georgia added the commitment of walk-on Jaden Newell from Choctaw, Fla. With two scholarship spots left, the 6-foot-8 power forward joins a group that already features seven newcomers in 2022. Newell played in 22 games this past season, ending the season averaging 4.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per games while shooting 44 percent from the field. His Choctawhatchee team won 14 games and reached the FHSAA Class 5A state tournament.
