Athens, Ga – Shooting was not an issue for Georgia on Sunday in the 120-81 win over Morehead State. That was tied for the fourth most points scored in a game in Georgia basketball history. The Bulldogs started out 0-for-17 on Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs put the drought potential to bed in the first few minutes. Kanon Catchings hit two 3-pointers right out of the gate.

“It was definitely energy,” guard Justin Bailey said post game. “The ball, obviously, has energy.  When everybody’s getting it, he saw his first couple go in, and I think everybody else just kind of fed off it as well.”

Morehead State never really cut the game within six points throughout the day. Georgia kept the Eagles at arm’s length, never trailed and pulled away with the third win of the first week of the season.

Georgia opened the season with a 104-59 win over Bellarmine on Monday. The Bulldogs rolled to a 94-29 win over Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday night.

Key Moment for Georgia

The Bulldogs had a different lineup than the one Mike White came out of the gate with. Justin Bailey started instead of Jeremiah Wilkinson on Sunday.

Bailey provided a boost offensively in addition to his strong defensive presence. The uptick in Georgia’s 3-point shooting was the highlight of the Bulldogs’ offensive explosion on Sunday.

Georgia hit 17 3-point shots on their way to reaching over 100 points for the second time in three games. Georgia only scored over 100 points in two games last season.

The defense continued to be an impactful piece of Georgia’s attack as well. The Bulldogs forced 16 turnovers. The Bulldogs turned those into 25 points.

Key Performers

Georgia was led in scoring by Wilkinson, who came off the bench on Sunday. The sophomore put in 22 points. Wilkinson also had the chance to showcase his above-the-rim prowess with a few dunks on the fast break on Sunday.

Bailey’s first start of the season came with 13 points. He was 3-for-4 from the 3-point line. Catchings ended the night with 14 points after getting things going with eight quick points in the first few moments of the game on Sunday.

Freshman Jake Wilkins added 15 points off the bench.

Georgia will get some rest for most of next week. The Bulldogs will host rival Georgia Tech on Friday night. That game will tip off at 9 p.m. at Stegman Coliseum.
