Georgia drops in latest Coaches Poll after falling to Alabama

Georgia gets its first feel of where it has to climb from following Saturday’s 24-21 loss to Alabama in Athens. The latest Coaches Poll has placed Georgia at No. 10 after their first loss of 2025.
Georgia entered the game ranked No. 3 by the coaches. The Bulldogs were No. 4 in the Associated Press Poll after the bye week and win over Tennessee in Knoxville.
The week five Coaches’ Poll again features Ohio State as the number one team, while Oregon has jumped into the top five after a win over Penn State in overtime.
The Ducks are No. 2 now.
Georgia had its chances on Saturday
Georgia had its opportunity to earn a win over Alabama on Saturday night. The Bulldogs lost the turnover battle to the Crimson Tide after a Nate Frazier fumble gave Alabama the ball in the redzone.

That turned into a field goal that gave the Crimson Tide a 17-7 lead in the second quarter. Georgia was able to climb back into the game and had a chance to tie or take the lead late in the fourth quarter before a fourth-down stop gave Alabama the football back with 3:19 remaining.
The Bulldogs were unable to get a stop and Alabama drained the clock. Georgia is looking toward next week. The Bulldogs host Kentucky on Saturday.
“I realize it’s a big game, I realize everybody wants to make a big deal about it,” Smart told reporters after the game. “But for us, it happened to us last year, right? Like, we got to go worry about the next one, because you can’t let this game beat you twice… It’s a very different team, because we’re all a little bit more experienced. We’ve seen young linemen, some young skilled guys on defense, and we just got to continue to grow and get better. The key is we’ll take the team in the right direction, leadership, and say, okay, we know what we’ve got to work on. Let’s get better at it.”
