Georgia ends regular season at No. 3 in AP Poll
The 2025 regular season is essentially over and Georgia is up to No. 3 in the Associated Press Poll. Only Ohio State, No. 1, and Indiana rank ahead of the Bulldogs heading into the SEC Championship game matchup with No. 10 Alabama.
Oregon is ranked No. 4 after beating Washington over the weekend. Texas Tech climbs to No. 5 after manhandling West Virginia. Ole Miss remains at No. 6 while Texas A&M, due to its loss to Texas, falls four spots to No. 7. Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Alabama round out the top 10.
Georgia finished the regular season with an 11-1 record, the eighth time in Kirby Smart’s 10 years as head coach that the Bulldogs have reached 11 wins. It’s also their eighth trip to the SEC Championship game, and it took their eighth straight win over Georgia Tech, which fell to No. 24, to get there.
UGA topped the Yellow Jackets 16-9 inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday. The Bulldogs reeled off 13 straight points after falling behind 3-0 and carried a 10-point advantage into the halftime. Georgia Tech did not reach the end zone in the contest, settling for three field goals. It managed just 250 yards of total offense against the Bulldog defense.

The 2025 regular season saw Georgia drop its first home game since 2019, a 24-21 loss to Alabama in September. After that, Smart and company reeled off eight straight victories. They will meet the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game for the fifth time on Saturday. Alabama has won all four of the previous matchups, three of which have come since Smart became the head coach.
Win or lose, Georgia is in the College Football Playoff. A win could vault Georgia to as high as No. 2. A loss would result in a drop to fourth or fifth place depending on the results of other games during conference championship weekend. UGA can boast wins over the nation’s No. 6, No. 14, and No. 24 teams. Tennessee fell out of the top 25 with its fourth loss of the season.
