Georgia falls to Texas A&M in game two of final series of season

Athens, Ga – Georgia baseball saw the bats go quiet on Friday night at Foley Field. The Bulldogs suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Texas A&M on senior night. Friday was game two of a three-game series. Georgia won game one coming back from an early deficit for a 10-6 win.
The Bulldogs only managed three hits on the night. Only one of those hits amounted to extra bases.
Texas A&M starting pitcher Justin Lamkin went all nine innings and had a career high 15 strikeouts on the night.
The Bulldogs got solid pitching from their starter Brian Curley. The junior went five innings, struck out eight batters, allowed four hits, walked four and got tagged with three runs all in the third inning. He gets the loss on his record as well. Curley’s record drops to 4-3.
The third inning trouble proved to be the backbreaker for Georgia on Friday.
Georgia’s big picture
The Bulldogs’ loss drops them to 41-12 overall and 17-12 in SEC play. The loss puts an end to Georgia’s bid to be a two seed in the SEC Tournament in Hoover next week.
Georgia is in a three-way battle with Vanderbilt, LSU, Auburn and Tennessee to determine seeds three through seven. Texas A&M was in a more precarious and ‘desperate’ situation.

According to D1 Baseball’s projections, the Aggies entered the weekend as one of the first four out of the NCAA Tournament.
Georgia head coach Wes Johnson expected Texas A&M to swing with everything they had.
“They’re probably as desperate as you can be,” Johnson told reporters on Wednesday ahead of the series “I mean, they’ve got to win. I’ve got to think they’re going to come in and we’re going to get every punch they’ve got. I was just telling some people, you look at their Sunday game, and if they were playing at Foley Field, Missouri caught four fly balls on the warning track in right field and all four of those balls go out of here.”
Quick turnaround
Georgia won’t have long to think about the loss on Friday night. The Bulldogs and Aggies will close their regular season with the series finale on Saturday at Foley Field. First pitch is 12 p.m. in Athens.
