Georgia will play one more scheduled home game in Sanford Stadium on Saturday. The Bulldogs will host 1-9 UNC-Charlotte on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has a lot of respect for the tradition of senior day.

“The seniors, always a special day when these guys have their last home game, or what’s scheduled to be their last home game,” Smart told reporters on Monday. “It’s a special moment. It’s always hard for me because of the tradition and the moments we’ve had with a lot of these guys. This is a tremendous group to get to go out and play in front of their families, in front of the Georgia fan base against Charlotte, so we’ll begin the prep for those guys today and this week.”

The 15 seniors on Georgia’s roster have come from a few different places. Seven of Georgia’s seniors were on the roster when Georgia won the national championship in 2022.

Oscar Delp, one of the seniors leading the charge

Tight end Oscar Delp was one of those players. Delp played a lot as a freshman. He still has a memory of what a championship team looks like.

That has helped him act as a leader for the 2025 Georgia team.

“I mean, we got an opportunity every day to get better practice, and that’s what those really good teams do, is that they care about practicing and getting better,” Delp told reporters on Monday. “Being here as a freshman, we won the national championship. I know what it looks like, and what you need to do every day to accomplish that, and so does Coach Smart. And, you know, the coach can always tell you what you all need to do, but, I mean, it’s got to be player-led. It’s got to come from one player to another, and I think our senior class really knows what it looks like and kind of holds those younger guys to that standard and kind of teaches them that, so hopefully in the future they can know what it feels like as well.”

Bittersweet

Delp admits it will be bittersweet to walk into Sanford Stadium for the last time.

“It’s hard to think about,” Delp said. “I remember my freshman year of spring ball right when I got here, and just from where we’ve gone since then, it is unreal. And just how much these coaches have poured into me and the other players on this team, and how much the other guys on our team have poured into each other, it’s awesome. We’ve got a special senior group, and, you know, we’ve been talking about it a little bit, but we’re more excited than sad, so.”
