Are you ready for the first Fall Saturday in Athens of 2022? That’s what is on tap in 24 hours as No. 1 Georgia is set to host Kent State.

The Bulldogs have won three games this season with a combined score of 130-10. Kent State is 1-2 on the year with losses to Power Five programs Washington and Oklahoma. Georgia has experienced a few ailments along the way, some during the season and some before. Below, DawgsHQ outlines what the Bulldogs are dealing with on the injury front.

OUT…

WR Arian Smith (ankle): The fastest player on UGA’s roster can’t seem to dodge the injury bug. He suffered an ankle injury during preseason camp that required surgery and hasn’t yet returned. Georgia needs to get the speedster healthy as soon as possible. He’s doing some work on the practice field but Kirby Smart isn’t sure when to expect him back.

RB Andrew Paul (knee): The late addition to Georgia’s 2022 class was pushing for a spot in the rotation before suffering a torn ACL in the second and final preseason scrimmage. Paul had surgery to repair that injury and will miss the entire 2022 season.

ILB C.J. Washington (neck): We don’t know when Washington might make a return to the football field. The true freshman suffered a neck injury during spring practice and while we’re told that he’s doing well, he hasn’t been able to practice since.

DOUBTFUL…

OL Jacob Hood (lower body): The mammoth offensive lineman has been banged up to some extent since spring drills and maybe before that. He missed Georgia spring practice with a foot injury and had a tough time staying healthy in the preseason. Hood hasn’t been available for a game yet this season.

CB Nyland Green (hamstring): The former four-star prospect made a move this offseason and challenged for the starting cornerback job that was eventually won by Kamari Lassiter. Smart told reporters last week that Green has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Smart listed Green as doubtful for South Carolina and we’re keeping him in that category this week.

Questionable

OL Earnest Greene (hamstring): The massive freshman hasn’t appeared in either game this season despite Georgia going to the bench in both. Greene had a chance to make a move at guard this preseason but the hamstring injury has kept him from getting the reps needed to develop. He made the trip to South Carolina but was one of the few in attendance who did not play.

WR AD Mitchell (ankle): The sophomore wideout was injured on UGA’s first play from scrimmage against Samford. He missed the rest of that game and didn’t travel to South Carolina last week. We’re told that he is improving and could probably give it a go if this were a big game. We’re not ruling out a play or two on Saturday but we’re not expecting it, either.

DL Jalen Carter (ankle): Georgia’s most gifted defender has been dealing with an ankle injury since the season opener according to Smart. When you consider how he has played fewer snaps in the past two games combined than he did against Oregon, it makes sense. Carter showed last week that he can play if he’s needed but we believe that there’s a chance he’s held out vs. the Golden Flashes.
