Georgia has one of three best RB units in 2024 per On3

An addition from the transfer portal helps Georgia to one of the top running back rooms in the country according to On3Sports. Jesse Simonton continued his position unit rankings on Friday with the running back position and he has Georgia ranked No. 3
The Bulldogs are behind Ohio State and Penn State, in that order, but they probably wouldn’t be that high had they not added one of the most dangerous running backs in the SEC the past two seasons. Georgia also hurt an arch rival in the process.
“In one of the wilder transfer portal moves this offseason, Florida tailback Trevor Etienne switched sides in the border war rivalry, instantly upgrading UGA’s running back room,” Simonton writes.
“In Etienne, the Bulldogs added a versatile playmaker with true three-down skills (7.0 yards per touch in 2023). The junior will be the team’s No. 1 ‘back, but with options like Roderick Robinson and Branson Robinson (coming off a major injury) as well as talented freshmen Nate Frazier (Top 50 prospect nationally) and Chauncey Bowens, this is likely a room that will share a lot of carries for much of the season.”
Etienne, who had a stellar first spring at Georgia, racked up over 700 yards rushing in each of his two seasons at Florida. He had 719 yards and six touchdowns on 118 carries in 2022. Then he carried it 131 times for 753 yards and eight touchdowns as a sophomore. Those two seasons saw him catch a combined 30 passes for 236 yards and a score while also returning 26 kickoffs and a couple of punts.

Georgia is young but very capable at the other running back positions. Roderick Robinson has shown promise as a 6-foot 240-pound shifty bruiser. Branson Robinson was looking the part of a No. 1 tailback once he got healthy last spring but suffered a torn patella tendon that is likely to slow him to start the 2024 season.
Bowens, a one-time Florida pledge, did some good things in his first spring at Georgia and Phillips is one of the fastest players in the country. Phillips will make his way to campus this summer and projects as more of a gadget guy with his tremendous speed and slight frame.
The offensive crowned jewel of the 2024 recruiting class, Frazier, will also make make his way to Georgia in the coming weeks. Expectations will be high for the nation’s No. 2 running back in the 2024 class per the On3 Industry Ranking.
