Georgia gets WR Colbie Young heavily involved in week two

Georgia’s passing attack was heavily focused on Colbie Young on Saturday. The Bulldogs earned a 28-6 win over Austin Peay in week two.
The Bulldogs’ leading receiver was Young. The senior was playing only his second game after spending most of 2024 suspended following an arrest last fall.
Young caught seven passes for 76 yards. Young caught two passes in game one against Marshall. He caught 11 passes in 2024. Young already has nine receptions in 2025.
There was a clear intent to get Young involved. He was targeted heavily in the screen game, and Young responded with production once he got the ball in his hands.
Young drew praise from head coach Kirby Smart following the game. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound playmaker has become a potentially key target for first-year starter at quarterback Gunner Stockton.

Smart feels his size and ability to make plays in traffic could be a key for Georgia’s offense moving forward.
“Most of those were short, intermediate, RPO-type throws,” Smart told reporters after the game. “And again, those will change as we play other people. He’s a contested catch guy; he’s a big guy. He’s a weapon on the perimeter blocking and a weapon to tackle. So, he’s hard to get down on the ground.”
Smart has seen Young become a leader since he returned to the field. Young’s work ethic and passion are also standing out for the senior wideout.
“I’m really proud of his energy and his enthusiasm, the way he leads, and his personality,” Smart said. “The team takes on his personality.”
