Georgia rebounded once again this weekend at Foley Field. The Bulldogs’ offense led them to a 6-3 win over Oklahoma to take two of three from the No. 14 Sooners on Saturday.

Georgia fell in game one on Thursday night, but rebounded with a win on Saturday before leaning on a big day from shortstop Kolby Branch.

Branch pounded two solo home runs on Saturday. He wasn’t the only Bulldog hitter to have a power surge. Robbie Burnett hit his 18th home run of the season.

The big moment came from a player who did not start the game on Saturday.

Brennan Hudson’s three-run home run was probably the biggest blow of them all on Saturday. Hudson entered the game after an injury to first baseman Ryland Zaborowski.

He put Georgia on top for good with a three-run home run that cleared the batter’s eye in center field to erase Oklahoma’s 2-1 lead in the sixth inning.

Georgia’s bullpen hung on from there. The Bulldogs leaned on Alton Davis II, Jordan Stephens and Tyler McLoughlin to cover the final six innings of the game. The starter Leighton Finley went five innings, allowed four hits and two runs. Finley struck out seven Sooners.

Davis gets credit for the win. McLouglin gets the save. The win puts Georgia at 35-11. Georgia will host Kennesaw State at Foley Field on Tuesday.

What did Georgia say?

Head coach Wes Johnson on Brennan Hudson: “I talked to our team yesterday and today about the word courage, and I think Brendan did that today. Brennan showed a lot of courage coming off there. That’s what I told guys, sometimes when things are going your way, it just takes one guy to get up there and do something, right. It takes one guy on the mound, it takes one guy at the plate. Brennan did that, you go back to the game in Florida, we started him in game two, he hit a home run. I mean, this guy can do it, and he’s been working really hard and got off a great swing.”

Update on Zaborowski: “It’s his arm, it’s his arm. I just don’t know yet. I haven’t talked to him. Zach just said, yeah, he’s for sure out, we’ll get doctor to look at him. That’s as far as I can give you guys that.”

Hudson on Georgia getting out of skid: “It’s a grind. It’s day by day, nothing’s ever going to be the same. You’re just going to have to take it one step at a time and just make every day count. I think this kind of just sets us up good. We kind of hit a small little skid. I think this sets us up to just keep building and keep on going. I think we’re going to keep going from here.”
