Georgia holds off Vanderbilt for top 100 prospect Caden Harris

Keeping the cupboards stocked at cornerback is a must, and on Wednesday, Georgia signed four-star defensive back Caden Harris to forward those efforts in a significant way.

A four-star cornerback from Brownsville, Tennessee’s Haywood High School, Harris ranks as the nation’s No. 78 overall prospect in the 2026 Rivals Industry Ranking. Harris is also the nation’s No. 10 cornerback and No. 3 prospect in the Volunteer State for the cycle per the same metric.

Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and Missouri were among those school who vied for his services, and Harris was a one-time Vanderbilt commit. The Dawgs, however, kept their pursuit up heavily and flipped him from the Commodores in mid-June.

Georgia has great coaches. I love how many coaches are hands-on working with the defensives backs. I like the ability to be critiqued at all times. Coach Kirby is a defensive coach and what defensive player wouldn’t want to play for a head guy like himself? I’ll be surrounded by elite guys who have the same major goal as me,” Harris told Rivals’ Chad Simmon at the time of the flip. “The coaches at Georgia prepare their guys for the league and that is my goal. The coaches know defense and they know how to teach great technique. Georgia develops defensive backs and they have Donte (Williams), T-Rob (Travaris Robertson) and others who can teach and develop players. They are about the details and I love that. I know I will be around great coaches and great players at Georgia.”

Scouting Report on Caden Harris

“Harris will be able to play every cornerback spot in Georgia’s defense. One immediately thinks of current starting cornerback Daylen Everette. They’re not the giant cornerback prospects that attract the attention coming in but they’re both sticky and have an ability to find ways to obstruct completions. There’s some physicality in Harris as well. He’ll need to adjust to the physicality of the SEC but that can be said about every freshman in the country. This feels like a high-floor, high upside player with immediate impact.” — Jeremy Johnson, DawgsHQ.com
