Georgia has signed the first of three safeties it is expected to secure on National Signing Day. Tyriq Green, a Buford High School product, has officially joined the Bulldogs. The program announced him as a signee soon after 9 a.m. ET.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound playmaker, who plays both defensive back and running back for Buford, is ranked as the nation’s No. 191 overall prospect per the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes all three websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s the No. 20 safety in America and the No. 20 player in Georgia.

According to the Rivals300, our stand-alone rankings, Green is ranked much higher. There he is viewed as the No. 99 overall player in the country and the No. 8 safety prospect. He’s also the No. 11 player in the Peach State.

Georgia made Greene a high priority in the 2026 class, a group that needed to be heavy on defensive backs, especially safety. The Bulldogs had some things working in their favor from the jump.

“It’s a good opportunity for my parents to be able to come to all the home games, and it’s a better situation,” Green said. “Just growing up, watching Georgia win the SEC Championship and national championship and you could be a part of that, means a lot.”

Green is Georgia’s second defensive back signee in the 2026 class, following four-star defensiv back Caden Harris. The Bulldogs are also set to add Justice Fitzpatrick and Chace Calicut at cornerback along with Jordan Smith and Zech Fort at safety.
