Georgia did not have to go far to find its latest commitment for the Class of 2026, with the Bulldogs landing four-star defensive lineman Anthony Lonon of Clarke Central High School on Saturday.

A 6-foot-2, 260 pound prospect, Lonon becomes the thirty-first pledge of the cycle for Georgia and the sixth defensive player in the trenches for the rising senior cycle.

A Bulldogs legacy, Lonon plays his high school football just up Baxter Street from Sanford Stadium, so he’s familiar with what the Dawgs have to offer, but it wasn’t until they turned up the heat this summer that he became aware of just what it meant to be in the red and black.

“Being in the culture and seeing the coaches and players’ perspective on football was great to experience and very eye-opening,” Lonon told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson following his official visit. “The resources available at Georgia were impressive, along with the staff’s intent to develop players with fire and dedication…At Georgia, the coaches value players who have the urge to work and go 100 percent over the ones who just have talent, which is important to me in my recruitment. This visit reassured me of Georgia’s commitment to the players and winning.”

Since that time, the relationship has grown exponentially, with Georgia becoming a consistent force in the recruitment of the local star. Of course, knowing the resume of defensive line coach Tray Scott didn’t hurt things either.

“For me, Georgia is a great school because of how they produce defensive linemen each and every year,” Lonon told Rivals Chad Simmons in July. “On my official visit, I learned more about the culture and their plan for me too, so those are the things that make Georgia one of my top schools.”

Anthony Lonon ranks as the nation’s No. 263 overall prospect in the 2026 Rivals Industry Ranking. He is the No. 28 defensive lineman and No. 31 prospect in the state of Georgia per the same metric.
