Georgia lands in top five in the Preseason College Football AP Poll

Georgia is still considered an elite program. The Associated Press has named Georgia as the No. 5-ranked program in the preseason poll ahead of the 2025 college football season.

The AP names ranks Texas number one. Penn State, Ohio State and Clemson, along with Georgia, round out the top five.

Georgia was ranked fourth in the preseason coaches’ poll. The Bulldogs enter the fall following an 11-3 overall record. Georgia won the SEC Championship Game and fell to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl in the second round of the College Football Playoff. The Bulldogs were the No. 2 seed in the 2024 College Football Playoffs.

The Bulldogs will open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Marshall. Georgia has five games with teams ranked in the top 25 of the first AP Poll of 2025.

The Bulldogs travel to Knoxville to face No. 24 Tennessee on Sept. 13. Georgia hosts No. 8 Alabama on Sept. 27. No. 18 Ole Miss travels to Athens on Oct. 18.

Georgia continues its annual rivalry with No. 15 Florida on Nov. 1. The Bulldogs will host preseason No. 1 Texas on Nov. 15 in a rematch of the 2024 SEC Championship Game. The Bulldogs bested the Longhorns twice in 2024.
