The Georgia Bulldogs continued a red hot start to the summer today, landing the commitment of one of the nation’s top prospect regardless of position in four-star wideout Talyn Taylor of Geneva, Illinois’ Geneva Community High School.

A 6-foot and a half, 175 pound pass catcher, Taylor ranks as the nation’s No. 50 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking and is the No. 9 overall wideout by the same metric. He is also ranked as the No. 3 prospect in Illinois for the cycle.

Georgia had held a substantial lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine prior to the decision, with expert picks from Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong, Michigan insider EJ Holland, and DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson.

The buzz around Taylor and Georgia had seemingly been building since the first of the year despite a coaching change at Taylor’s position.

“(Talyn and James Coley) hit it off right away,” his mother, Venus, told On3’s Steve Wiltfong in early April. “He made the visit very one-on-one with Talyn and took the time in that short window to spend quality time with him which I thought was awesome. Their practices are so high intensity and Coach Smart is a passionate high-energy guy. They bring the energy there for sure. Coach Coley make it a point to make Talyn feel important still and wanted and spend that quality time with him.”

Of course, the offerings in Athens often begin at the top, and that’s no difference for the standout rising senior.

“What stands out about Georgia to me is their stability with Coach [Kirby] Smart and their consistency,” Taylor told DawgsHQ. “They are always winning and continue to chase greatness. Their energy and intensity is second to none.”

It was a familiar refrain throughout the recruitment.

“It is about Coach Kirby Smart, Coach James Coley at that culture in Athens. I have been messing with Coach Smart since my first visit and we have built a great relationship since. Georgia is just a great program,” Taylor told Chad Simmons.

Talyn Taylor becomes Georgia’s thirteenth commitment of the Class of 2025 and second wide receiver commitment of the cycle. He joins fellow four-star wideout Thomas Blackshear on the commitment list. He is also the third commitment in the last three days for the Bulldogs.

On3 Scouting Report on Talyn Taylor

“Talyn Taylor was among the most consistent receivers throughout the weekend at the OT7 Championship. He has about every tool in his bag and we saw the full array as he put points on the board this weekend. Taylor is a naturally gifted route-runner whose loose hips and foot quickness put defenders in a blender at the intermediate levels of the field. He was able to stretch the field vertically as well making one of the best catches of the weekend on a deep fade where he went up and high pointed the football on top of a defender while contorting his body to stay in bounds falling in the back of the end zone. The Geneva (Ill.) Geneva Community standout has the athleticism, physical makeup and positional traits to be one of the top receivers in the entire country and he put all of them on display this weekend at the OT7 Championship.” – Cody Bellaire
