It wasn’t very long ago that Corey Howard was a hidden gem down at Valdosta High School.

But the Georgia Bulldogs changed all of that quickly with an offer to 6-foot-6, 260 pound defensive lineman in early May.

He didn’t have to think too long about what to do next, taking his official visit earlier this month, and choosing the Bulldogs over the Florida Gators on Tuesday evening.

Howard becomes the twentieth commitment of the Class of 2026 for Georgia, joining fellow defensive linemen Seven Cloud and Carter Luckie on the list.

Currently unranked per the On3 Industry Ranking, Howard held several other offers, including the likes of Georgia State, USF, and UConn. Still, the lure of staying home was too much to pass up.

“I called my mom as soon as I got it,” Howard told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson upon receiving the offer from the Bulldogs. “The coaches, it’s just an amazing thing that happened to me. I’ve been putting work in all spring. Everything is just starting to pick up. Everything just happened so fast.”

Those notions were confirmed following his official visit to Athens a few weeks back.

“They’re definitely at the top,” Howard said at that time. “It’s a place where if you want to go to the NFL, go to Georgia. They produce some of the best athletes and defensive linemen. I think I can be one of them ones.”

Following the commitment of Corey Howard, Georgia now turns its attention to the recruitments of other defensive lineman, such as James Johnson, PJ Dean, Earnest Rankins, Valdin Sone, and Kendall Guervil.

Georgia currently ranks as the nation’s No. 6 overall class in the 2026 per the On3 Team Industry Rankings.
