Georgia loses EDGE commit Corey Howard to Alabama

The Crimson Tide have been pushing for the services of Valdosta EDGE Corey Howard for some time, and on Sunday evening, the three-star pass rushed officially flipped his commitment from Georgia.
Originally committed since late June, Howard was one of two EDGE commits in the Georgia class, alongside four-star North Oconee standout Khamari Brooks.
Corey Howard ranks as the nation’s No. 700 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking and is the No. 74 EDGE and No. 79 player in the Peach State for the Class of 2026.
While it stings, it was not necessarily an unexpected move given the pursuit of Kalen DeBoer and company and Howard’s reception to it.
“They’re real thin at the end position and interior guys, they’re playing a lot of their young guys because a lot of their older guys are hurt or they’re leaving this year. For me to come in as a freshman, they would look for me to come in and play and get into the system and stuff…I thought it’s a great opportunity,” Howard told BamaOnline following a trip to Tuscaloosa in September. “To be able to come in as a freshman and make a difference at Alabama. Like, it’s Alabama. That’s like the pinnacle of football right there. It was cool to me that he thought that I could do that.”

Still, there was some optimism on the Georgia end, given his comments to DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson soon thereafter.
“I feel like anybody who goes to Georgia they’re going to be really, really good when you get there, or you’re going to be a little slow to get started,” Howard said. “You’ll play like you’ll do your senior year and then be really, really good.”
Currently, the Bulldogs hold the nation’s second ranked recruiting class in the cycle for 2026 per the Rivals Industry Team Ranking.
