Georgia loses pitcher Nate Taylor to the transfer portal

Georgia baseball will not have the sophomore version of pitcher Nate Taylor. The rising sophomore announced on his Instagram that he would be transferring from Georgia after one season in Athens.
“After much prayer and thought, discussion with my family, I’ve submitted my notice of intent to transfer yesterday (Friday), June 27. I believe this is the best decision for me and my future,” Taylor said in his statement.
“I’m incredibly thankful to the University of Georgia, my teammates, coaches and entire support staff for helping shape me both as a player and a person,” Taylor continued. “The relationships and memories made here will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Taylor was expected to be a major contributor to Georgia’s rotation in 2026. He has been taking part in the Cape Cod summer league over the last few weeks.

The Buford native appeared in nine games for Georgia in 2025. He had a 1.08 ERA, had 17 strikeouts and held opponents to a .107 batting average. The Bulldogs earned a No. 7 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Georgia earned a 43-17 record in year three under Wes Johnson.
Taylor is just the latest of Georgia’s freshman class from 2025 to hit the transfer portal. Bryce Clavon, Cade Brown, Conner Williams, Erik Parker, and Asher Sabom have all transferred out of Athens already.
Georgia has also added 18 transfers this summer.
