Georgia sophomore Nate Frazier is coming into 2025 expecting a bigger role with the Bulldogs. He’s already garnering national attention.

Frazier was named to the Maxwell Award Watchlist ahead of the 2025 season. The Maxwell Award is voted on by national journalists and the NCAA’s head coaches.

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty took home the award in 2024.

Frazier started game one as a true freshman for Georgia after Trevor Etienne missed the season opener against Clemson. Frazier played a key role for the Bulldogs all season. He put up 671 yards, scored eight touchdowns on 133 carries as a freshman.

Frazier signed with Georgia in the class of 2024, ranked as the No. 49 overall prospect in the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Georgia is expected to lean heavily on the run game in the fall. Quarterback Gunner Stockton appears to be in line to start this season. If he starts Georgia’s opener against Marshall on Aug. 30, that will be his second college start.

Georgia wants to run the football more than it did in 2024.

“But our goal was to say, okay, on each individual run last year, how do we get better at that? Spring practice, we really targeted that. We changed a lot of things we do to make it better,” Smart told the media at SEC media days two weeks ago. “This summer, we’ve changed things we’re doing that I won’t disclose, that we’re saying, okay, how do we get better at running the ball? We gotta run the ball more. We gotta practice running the ball more. So that’s a big point of emphasis for us.”
