Georgia is still the No. 3 team in the land per the latest US LBM coaches’ poll, which was released on Sunday. Ohio State is ranked No. 1 and Penn State is holding tight at No. 2

LSU sits at No. 4 and Oregon is next, rounding out the top five. Miami, Texas, Illinois, Florida State, and Texas A&M, in that order, form the rest of the top 10.

Georgia’s win over Tennessee, which is ranked No. 15, saw it battle back from five different deficits in the game. The Bulldogs fell behind 21-7 in the first quarter before cutting into the lead with a 36-yard touchdown catch and run from Zachariah Branch. They would go on to tack on three more points to send the game into the half at 21-17 in favor of the Vols.

A 75-yard march that featured 14 plays, just one of which was a pass, gave Georgia the lead on the opening possession of the second half. Josh McCray reached the end zone for the first time in his UGA career an Peyton Woodring knocked home the PAT, staking the Bulldogs to a 24-21 lead.

After the two teams traded punts, KJ Bolden picked off Joey Aguilar at the Tennessee 37-yard line, but the Bulldogs couldn’t do anything with it. They went three and out, gaining just seven yards as Woodring came home to hit a 48-yard field goal. It extended the lead to 27-21.

Tennessee recaptured the lead the next time it got the ball, with Chris Brazzell catching his third touchdown of the day. It covered 56 yards and the PAT gave Tennessee the lead at 28-27. Georgia battled right back, getting the football to the Tennessee three-yard line before going backward on a tackle for loss. The Bulldogs failed to get it in the end zone on third down and settled for another Woodring field goal to take a 30-28 lead.

Tennessee went on a 10-0 run after that thanks to a 32-yard touchdown pass from Aguilar to Braylon Stanley and a strip sack of Gunner Stockton that set the Vol place-kicker Max Gilbert up for a 48-yard field goal.

Georgia came right back down the field on the ensuing possession with Stockton hitting London Humphreys for a 28-yard touchdown on 4th and 6. The Bulldogs had to go for two down 38-36 and Stockton found Zachariah Branch for an easy pitch and catch to tie the game.

Tennessee got itself in position to kick the game-winning field goal with seven seconds left but Gilbert pushed it wide right, sending the game into overtime. The Vols couldn’t move the sticks in the extra period with Gilbert hitting a 42-yard field goal to put them up 41-38. Georgia got a 21-yard run from Nate Frazier on the first play of overtime and McCray walked it off two plays later by punching it in from the one-yard line.
