Georgia made another splash on Saturday with a win over Ole Miss and is seeing the results on Sunday in the latest American Football Coaches Association Poll.

The Bulldogs are the No. 5 team in the newest poll released on Sunday. The Bulldogs began the week at No. 7 in last week’s poll. A few teams ranked ahead of Georgia the last few weeks suffered losses. Ole Miss lost to Georgia. Texas Tech fell to Arizona State. Miami lost to Louisville on Friday. Ohio State remains the No. 1 team in the poll.

Georgia entered the fourth quarter trailing the Rebels 35-26.

Three stops by Georgia’s defense, two touchdown drives, and a late Peyton Woodring field goal helped ice the sixth win of the season. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart acknowledged his team’s never say never mentality.

“Another day in the SEC,” Smart told reporters post-game. “One-possession games have become the norm. I don’t know that I’ve ever been a part of anything like that. A lot of credit goes to Lane and his staff. Their team was really prepared to come into this game and start fast, as they did. A lot of credit goes to our offensive staff and the preparation they put in to not stop. I just told the guys, that’s a culture win. You don’t win that game if you’re not physically tough, mentally tough. We call it hard to kill. The one thing we are, we’re hard to kill. We won’t go away.”

Georgia will be on a bye week next week. They will travel to Jacksonville for their annual game with Florida on Nov. 1.
