It’s go time for Georgia’s baseball team.

The Bulldogs have one series left in the regular season. Georgia sits in a three-way tie for the fourth seed in the SEC Tournament. They could be as high as number three by the end of the weekend.

That begins tonight. Georgia head coach Wes Johnson feels the Bulldogs don’t need to look at the standings. If they want to get where they want to go, they need to just handle what’s in front of them. That begins tonight at 6 p.m.

“Regionals start Thursday, 6:02 right here,” Johnson told reporters. “That’s our mindset. There’s no other way to get ready for it and have that mindset. So don’t worry about standings or wins, better play a good, clean ballgame on Thursday night. If you’re in a regional and you lose game one, it’s really hard to come back and win that thing. We’re just having that mindset of, hey, our regional actually starts Thursday, 6:02 right here at Foley Field. Bottom line, just coming out to play mistake-free baseball and just slowing it down like you always do. We’ve got to execute pitches.”

Georgia expects a dangerous opponent this weekend in Texas A&M. The Aggies are sitting at 14th in the SEC standings. They also need to win games to work themselves into a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Johnson expects their best shot this weekend.

“They’re probably as desperate as you can be,” Johnson said. “I mean, they’ve got to win. I’ve got to think they’re going to come in and we’re going to get every punch they’ve got. I was just telling some people, you look at their Sunday game, and if they were playing at Foley Field, Missouri caught four fly balls on the warning track in right field and all four of those balls go out of here.”

Georgia to get back Ryland Zaborowski?

Zaborowski was a Golden Spikes Award watchlist player in the first half of the season. He suffered an elbow injury against Oklahoma back on April 25. Zaborowski has not been in Georgia’s line up since.

His 16 home runs still are tied for second on the team. Things could be looking up for a return for Zaborowski. He took batting practice this week.

Zaborowski is expected to be a ‘game-time decision’ for each of the games this weekend.

“He had a good day yesterday (Tuesday),” Johnson said. “These things are hiccups, and they’re day-to-day. It’ll be a game-time decision all weekend with him… The swing looked good yesterday, I’ll say that. You’ve got to make sure that after two days of doing it and see how it’s swelling, how’s the range of motion.”

First pitch tonight is set for 6 p.m. at Foley Field.
