Georgia enjoyed its first bye week of the 2025 season in week four. As is often the case, that means no movement in the latest US LBM coaches’ poll. The Bulldogs are holding tight in the No. 3 spot.

Ohio State is still ranked No. 1 and Penn State at No. 2, keeping Georgia as the top-ranked team in the SEC per the coaches poll. LSU and Oregon, in that order, round out the top five.

Kirby Smart and company are off to a 3-0 start with two non-conference wins and one huge road victory within the league. Georgia started it’s season with a ho-hum beatdown of Marshall on August 30. It was Gunner Stockton’s first home start and he accounted for four touchdown as the Bulldogs emptied the bench in the fourth quarter and got a lot of inexperienced players in the game.

Week two, however, wasn’t as encouraging. After moving the kickoff with Austin Peay from 3:30 p.m. ET to 2:30 p.m. due to inclement weather, the Bulldogs fumbled on their opening possession. They jumped out to a 14-3 lead but couldn’t put the ball in the end zone right before the half. The break coincided with a lightning delay that lasted almost two hours. Georgia beat the Governors 14-3 in the second half, too, to grab a 28-6 victory and it had many heavily doubting the Bulldog offense for it’s SEC opener in Knoxville the following week.

Georgia at Tennessee is an early contender for game of the year as it included five different lead changes. The two teams exchanged touchdowns on their opening drives, but the Volunteers led 21-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs cut that lead to 21-14 on the first play of the second quarter as Stockton connected with Zachariah Branch for a 36-yard touchdown on a screen pass. Georgia would cut Tennessee’s lead to 21-17 before the half.

The second half began with the football in UGA’s possession, and it marched down the field with a 14-play, 75-yard drive, one that included 13 run plays. Georgia took a 24-21 lead on a one-yard touchdown run from Josh McCray. It tacked on to that lead with a 48-yard field goal from Peyton Woodring to make it 27-21.

Tennessee wideout Chris Brazzell tied the game with 56-yard touchdown catch, and the point after gave Tennessee it’s third lead of the game. Georgia used it’s next possession to retake that lead with a short field goal from Woodring, making the score 30-28.

The Volunteers then scored 10 unanswered points to give themselves an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter. Stockton found London Humphrey’s first a 28-yard touchdown with less than three minutes left in the game before hitting Branch on the two-point try to tie the game at 38. Tennessee missed a field goal at the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime.

Georgia held Tennessee to a field goal on its opening possession of overtime and won the game three plays later. Nate Frazier’s 21-yard run on the first play set McCray up for the walk-off touchdown. The Bulldog walked away with the 44-41 road victory.

Next up for the Georgia is a home contest vs. Alabama. Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
