Georgia has grabbed that all-important 17th SEC win of the season. The Bulldogs fell behind early in game one of its three-game set with Texas A&M but they roared back to a 10-6 win.

Charlie Goldstein got the start and struggled, giving up three runs while recording just one out. JT Quinn came on in relief, throwing 3.2 innings of one-run ball to get the win.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Robbie Burnett, who blasted his 20th home run of the season. He also had an RBI double and an RBI single while going three for four and getting hit by a pitch. Nolan McCarthy went yard for the 10th time this season, a solo blast. Dan Jackson also had a big fly that drove in three. It was his 12th of the year.

The Aggies blasted a three-run shot in the first to put Georgia in an early hole but a first-inning solo shot from Burnett and McCarthy’s home run pulled the Bulldogs back to within one at 3-2. Quinn gave up a solo home run in the third as Texas A&M extended the lead to 4-2 but that didn’t last long.

Georgia hung seven runs in the top of the third. Burnett got the scoring going with a run-scoring double. Senior shortstop Kolby Branch drove in two more with a double and gave the Bulldogs a lead they never gave back. Ryan Black’s RBI single extended that lead and Jackson’s three-run bomb capped off the inning. When the dust settled on that frame, the Bulldogs were up 9-4.

Texas A&M smacked its third home run of the day, a solo shot, in the top of the sixth to make it 9-5. Georgia got that run right back in the bottom half of that frame on Burnett’s run-scoring single. The Aggies pushed one more across in top of the seventh but that capped off the scoring for both teams, giving Georgia a 10-6 win. Zach Harris and Alton Davis combined for two scoreless innings to end the game.

Game two between the Bulldogs and Aggies will take place on Friday. First pitch is schedule for 6 p.m. Georgia’s final game of the regular season is set for Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.

The Bulldogs are currently projected by both Baseball America and D1 Baseball as a top eight seed in the NCAA Tournament. Georgia also has the nation’s No. 1 RPI.
