Georgia was a hot topic of discussion for a week following the 24-21 loss to Alabama. Georgia responded with a 35-14 win over Kentucky on Saturday. They did something that has alluded them for the first games of SEC play. Georgia started fast.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 14-0 lead. They’ve been faced with a 21-7 deficit in Knoxville and a 14-0 deficit to Alabama. That ultimately bit Georgia two weeks ago.

Starting fast and rebounding were the themes of last week. Head coach Kirby Smart didn’t change anything in preparation. The Bulldogs’ practice routine is what it is.

“Yeah, there’s nothing we did at practice to start faster,” Smart told reporters after the game on Saturday. “If we did, we’d do it every game. We can’t control that. So we talked about it, we wanted to start fast, we wanted to bring our own juice. We say FPE (fire, passion and energy) doesn’t come in a pill. FPE doesn’t come by way of an audience. FBE doesn’t come by, it’s a decision you make, and our guys made the decision today to have it.”

The week leading up to the game saw Georgia with a prove-it attitude. The Bulldogs have always tried to minimize the outside noise.

“I feel like just prove it, basically,” linebacker Raylen Wilson said. “We know who we are. I mean, it doesn’t really matter what everybody else says. The biggest thing is just going out there and proving who we are… It’s really just controlling what we can control. I mean, we can’t control people. Everybody has an opinion. We’ve just got to go out there and play football, play winning football.”

Georgia will hit the road to face Auburn on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
