Athens, Georgia, will be the center of the college football universe on Saturday, and head coach Kirby Smart wants fans of the Bulldogs to put on a show.

Smart issued a challenge to Georgia’s fan base ahead of Saturday’s game against No. 4 Ole Miss. Smart called for Georgia’s fans to be loud and supportive on Saturday.

“We need the best atmosphere we’ve ever had in Sanford Stadium,” Smart told reporters on Monday.

Smart gave Georgia’s fans who made the trip on Saturday night to Auburn. They were also able to make an impact even on the road.

“I want to open by thanking our fans who were in Auburn,” Smart said. “I thought they were incredible. There were times that late in the game I really felt that we had an impact in terms of that end zone, the turnout, the kind of passion and energy they showed at the end of the game and after the game.”

Smart has a lot of respect for Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss’s ability as a runner and passer. He also respects the Rebels’ head coach, Lane Kiffin, for his ability to communicate.

Smart wants some help from Georgia’s faithful in disrupting that rhythm.

I’ve got a lot of respect for Lane (Kiffin), he does an incredible job,” Smart said. “He’s probably one of the best things he does is in-game coaching, having coached with him and watched him for years. He has an impact on the quarterback, the offensive play, and the ability to communicate with the quarterback. Whether it’s by headset or by sideline, he does a great job of getting the quarterback’s attention and getting them in the right place based on looks. He probably does that better than anybody else in the country.”

“So, the challenge has been issued for our fan base to be extremely difficult for them to communicate and do things offensively that they do, especially at home and sometimes on the road when it’s not the right environment,” Smart continued.

Georgia and Ole Miss are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
