Kirby Smart confirms Georgia RB Bo Walker will miss time after surgery
Georgia will be without freshman Bo Walker for an undisclosed amount of time after he underwent surgery for injuries suffered in an apparent car accident, according to head coach Kirby Smart.
Walker did not play against Georgia Tech last week. The freshman running back showed up on this week’s injury report for Georgia. His listed injury was a ‘facial fracture’.
Smart confirmed on Thursday that Walker will not be available on Saturday when Georgia takes on Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
“Bo’s not with us,” Smart told reporters during the SEC Championship Game press conference. “He’s required to have surgery. So, he’ll be out for this game.”

Walker had a breakout performance against UNC-Charlotte two weeks ago. He carried nine times and ran for 48 yards and three touchdowns in Georgia’s 35-3 win.
“He’s been working his tail off every week,” Smart told reporters after that win two weeks ago. “He’s starting on two special teams units. He never complains. He’s got a smile on his face every day. Just love the way he competes and works. He’s still got to grow and get better at some things, but he catches the ball out of the backfield well, he blocks well, and he’s got good vision. So, I thought they opened some things up, and he made some people miss.”
Walker has carried the ball 22 times for 100 yards in his first season in Athens. Walker could still have a redshirt opportunity as he’s only played in four games for the Bulldogs this season.
