Kirby Smart provides a few updates on Georgia's injuries

Athens, Ga – Georgia is four days from kicking off the 2025 season. The Bulldogs will host Marshall on Saturday at Sanford Stadium, and after a physical camp, they are heading in with a fairly clean bill of health.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart did give a peek into the health of a few of the players who have been working back from injuries.
Senior punter Brett Thorson appears to be becoming a bit of a long shot to play on Saturday. Thorson suffered a torn ACL in Georgia’s win over Texas in the SEC Championship Game in December. He punted during practice on Tuesday. Thorson is not completely cleared as of now.
“He punted in some of the punt situations today, and I don’t know yet that he’s going to be cleared to kick,” Smart told reporters on Tuesday. “There’s more to it than kicking. It’s like the way he got injured, right? He’s got to get cleared to that point. I don’t know if we’re to that point yet, but he’s kicking in action now.”

Reshirt freshman center Malachi Toliver suffered an ankle injury early in camp and has been back on the practice field doing drills but not taking part in 11-on-11 just yet. Toliver has also worked behind Drew Bobo for much of this offseason. Georgia also added UCF transfer Waltclaire Flynn and signed former four-star Cortez Smith in the class of 2025. Those two have served as Bobo’s backups.
“Malachi’s working himself back,” Smart said. “He’s back to doing individual drills and running and moving and snapping also. He has not been in team drills. We hope to get him back in those next week.”
Game one kicks off on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
