Georgia has been able to count on junior linebacker CJ Allen all season. He dropped another big game against rival Florida on Saturday.

Allen posted 13 tackles on Saturday to help Georgia to a 24-20 win over Florida. Allen was a part of a few key stops for the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart had praise for what Allen has meant to the defense in 2025 so far.

“I wish he were out there every play,” Smart told reporters after the game. “I mean, he’s a machine. He erases things.”

Smart recalled one of the key plays of the night being Allen’s chase down of Florida quarterback DJ Lagway that turned into a short gain.

For Smart, Allen’s effort stands out. The things that Allen is bringing on Saturdays begin in practice during the week in Smart’s eyes.

“The ball gets out, Lagway, looks like he’s about to go and I was like, he looks like he’s going to run for a long way,” Smart said. “CJ runs him down and tackles him right away. I mean, the kid practices so hard and wants to win so bad for Georgia. I don’t know that I’ve seen a kid that cared more about the team performance than CJ does. Now, a lot of people care about it. They’re not willing to practice like he does. He practices so hard that it comes across in his play. He’s a great leader. I appreciate the work he puts into it.”
