Live Updates: Georgia and Alabama to decide SEC Championship
Atlanta, Ga – Georgia and Alabama will once again battle for the SEC Championship in Atlanta. The Bulldogs closed the regular season 11-1.
The Crimson Tide comes to Atlanta 9-2. The two teams met back on Sept. 27 in Athens. Alabama won that matchup 24-21.
Both teams expect Saturday to be a different iteration.
“I think at this point, it’s easy when you have an identity, and you’ve hung your hat,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer told reporters in the SEC Championship Teleconference. “If you’re at a championship level on some things that are really important to you and that are your strengths, you understand at this point now what a lot of what your opponents’ all about. You know, having especially having played each other already, that’s certainly the case. You got to do what you do best. You’ve got to have some wrinkles, and you’ve got to, you know, tweak the game plan for maybe the first time you played here and there. There are things that you do now that are different than what you did then. That’s the evolution of really good football teams. They improve, but they also continue to adjust to what your strengths are.”

The Bulldogs have been in this game a lot under Kirby Smart. The process for preparing hasn’t changed.
“I mean, a championship game is no different than the game that gets you to the championship game,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart told reporters on Monday. “We’ve been playing championship games every week, in my opinion. So what wins football games doesn’t change; good players win football games. Not turning the ball over wins football games. Being explosive wins football games, and that will not change in this game. The turnover margin of the last game was a factor. Explosive plays of the last game was a factor. They’ll be factors in this one. They’ll be factors in the next one after this one. So that doesn’t change.”
