Athens, Ga – NASCAR has Daytona, IndyCar has the Indy 500, and Georgia football faces off with Alabama in big games.

The Bulldogs are back in Athens with Alabama coming to town on Saturday night. The DawgsHQ crew is on hand to cover you wire-to-wire on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

This will act as a pivot point in the 2025 season for both programs. Alabama comes in 2-1. This is the Crimson Tide’s first SEC game. Alabama took a week off last week after wins over UL Monroe and Wisconsin.

Georgia also had a bye week. The Bulldogs have beaten Marshall, Austin Peay and SEC foe Tennessee in the first four weeks of the season.

Georgia focused on itself over the last week as it prepared for Alabama. The elephant in the room when these two programs meet is Kirby Smart’s 1-6 record against Nick Saban and Alabama since he’s been at Georgia.

The Crimson Tide has changed a bit in its time under new coach Kalen DeBoer. Alabama won last year’s match-up in Tuscaloosa 41-34, giving Deboer a 1-0 record over Georgia.

Smart and Georgia won’t prepare any differently, though things look different schematically and in Alabama’s personnel.

“We prepare for every team the same,” Smart told reporters on Monday. “We don’t go, okay, we’ve got to prepare for Tennessee differently than we prepare for Alabama. We’re going to prepare by doing what they do and trying to do it better than they do it, in terms of the look we give our guys, which is really hard to simulate…They’re a really good football team with really good players. They’ve changed, they’ve changed defensively and they’ve changed offensively. They’ll change every year as their personnel changes.”
