Game is currently recognizing game between two elite organizations, one from the NFL level and another from the college level. The Philadelphia Eagles, after selecting five Georgia players in the past two drafts and trading for another, have temporarily changed their Twitter profile to give the Bulldogs a big shout out.

It reads, “PhilaGeorgia BullEagles OR GeorgiaDelphia EagleDawgs.”

The Eagles used a first-round pick on Georgia fan-favorite Jordan Davis in the 2022 NFL Draft. They went back to the UGA well in the third round to get Butkus Award-winning linebacker Nakobe Dean.

All of that was well and good with Bulldog nation as the organization had just brought in two pillars of the 2021 National Championship team. Things were taken to a different level in 2023.

Philadelphia traded up a spot to the No. 9 pick in the draft to take Jalen Carter. It’s not often that a player like Carter makes it to the team that just played for the Super Bowl. Then, with their regular pick at No. 30, Philly decided to draft Georgia outside linebacker Nolan Smith, who ripped up the NFL combine back in February.

The Eagles were morphing into Georgia after just one day of the 2023 NFL Draft, but there was more to come. After going a whole day, Friday, without taking a Georgia player, the Eagles added two more on Saturday.

They made a trade with Detroit to get Philly native D’Andre Swift, who is one of five running backs in Georgia history for rush for 1,000 yards in multiple seasons. Before that they traded up in the fourth round to take Kelee Ringo.

“A lot of times you go overnight, and you sit there looking at who stands out on your board. Kelee stood out for us. We had him much higher than where he was at this time, so we went to try and get him,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said during an interview with ESPN during the draft. “He’s in a situation here where we have phenomenal outside corners starting with (Darius) Slay and James Bradberry, Pro Bowl players and Pro Bowl people. He doesn’t have to come in and be Superman here. He can come in, he can learn and kind of bide his time and work on his skillset.”

“We’re talking about a 20 year old corner who’s played at the highest level, one of the top recruits in the country coming out,” Roseman continued. “We were excited to get him, and it’s a position we’re always looking for. We didn’t get on in the first two days of the draft. Being able to add him, we thought it was good for our football team.”

If you’re keeping score at home, that’s six former Georgia players in the City of Brotherly Love.
