Report Card: Georgia in position to contend with a third to go

It hasn’t been easy for Georgia baseball. It has been a roller coaster. The Bulldogs have run out to a 33-6 record in the first half and change of the season.
They entered this week, the No. 5 team in the D1 College Baseball Rankings. Georgia has done it with offense. That’s not a secret.
It’s been late, it’s been early, and it’s been whenever they’ve needed it. Two of the highlight moments of the spring so far came with Daniel Jackson’s walk-off home run against Auburn. Last weekend provided another splash as Hunter Henry hit a walk-off home run to beat No. 1-ranked Arkansas on Sunday.
There is a new category to add to this report card. Theater. Georgia gets an A+ there. There’s also a real category to add, toughness.
Baseball isn’t a contact sport. Baseball does wrack the mind and crush the spirit. It’s the reaction to those instances that makes the man in baseball.
Georgia’s got some tough people in their dugout. When they struggle individually, they don’t struggle long, and while they struggle, others take the torch. That’s a championship quality.
Georgia’s offense is still among the leaders
As mentioned earlier, Georgia has a flair for the dramatic. That comes as they hit the ball over the fence a lot, in little moments and in big moments. Georgia leads the nation in home runs with 100 in 39 games.
