Georgia Baseball won its road game Tuesday night at Clemson to split the season series against the Tigers. With a punch out from right fielder Josh Stinson to Fernando Gonzalez at home for the final out, the Bulldogs were able to walk out of Doug Kingsmore Stadium with a 5-4 win. It’s Georgia’s first one-run victory of the year, moving them to 20-17 overall on the season.

The Bulldogs and Tigers traded runs early, each scoring two in the first before Clemson added two in the second and Georgia did the same in the third. Parks Harber hit a two-run home run that plated Connor Tate before Charlie Condon homered to center and Corey Collins scored Tate once again on a sacrifice fly to center field. Tate’s second run of the game tied it a four a piece.

Stinson put Georgia ahead in the fourth with a double to bring Sebastian Murrillo home. He doubled to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a fly out to right from Mason LaPlante.

That did it for action on the offensive side of things. Meanwhile, on the mound, Georgia pitchers Collin Caldwell, Dalton Rhadans, Chandler Marsh and Leighton Finley combined for a fantastic showing in a bullpen game. The four allowed just three hits and no runs, striking out 10 including four each from Caldwell and Marsh. Caldwell walks away from the outing with his second win of the season while Finley earned his third save, throwing an inning in the ninth to close things out on the victory.

“I thought the bullpen won us that game, and it started with Collin Caldwell settling the game down for us,” Georgia head coach Scott Stricklin said. “Dalton Rhadans got some big outs, Chandler Marsh, that’s the best he’s looked this year, and Leighton Finley closed it out. Also, (outfielder) Josh Stinson is an energy giver. He expects to do good things. He’s getting an opportunity, and he’s a valuable member of the team.”
