Georgia’s pass game found Lawson Luckie a lot on Saturday night. The junior tight end found the endzone three times in Georgia’s 45-35 win over Ole Miss.

The Bulldogs were without senior wide receiver Colbie Young for most of the game on Saturday after he suffered an ankle injury that Kirby Smart described as ‘not good’. Luckie was able to act as a catalyst in the redzone on Saturday as Georgia was able to win the top 10 showdown without a single punt.

Luckie entered the game with five receptions for 38 yards and zero touchdowns. He had four in his career at Georgia prior to Saturday.

Luckie was due. Georgia’s culture is big on being ready. That fell upon Luckie on Saturday night. Luckie is a Georgia legacy. His father played for Georgia. His younger brother, Carter Luckie, is committed to the class of 2026.

Luckie has a lot of love for the program, and he shows it in a lot of ways that may not always come out on the statsheet. For Smart, it’s Luckie’s toughness.

“This guy, man, he speaks up in every meeting,” Smart told reporters following the game. “He loves the place. His dad played here. He never complains, and he doesn’t cry. He just keeps on working, man. He’s got some of the best toughness in our program, never complains.”

Luckie didn’t complain, nor did he toot his own horn post-game either. Luckie just felt it was his time to step up.

We just got targets, I mean, that’s how it is,” Luckie told reporters post-game. “Sometimes we go to Zach (Branch), sometimes we go to the running backs, that’s just how it is. The ball gets spread out. That’s what makes our offense so beautiful. Today, it happened to be me.”

Georgia will have a bye week before heading to Jacksonville to face Florida.
