The Georgia Show: Another massive weekend for the Dawgs

Another huge weekend for Georgia
It’s hard to underestimate the weekend pickups of the likes of Tyriq Green and Kaiden Prothro and what they ultimately mean for the efforts of the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2026 cycle. In Prothro, Todd Hartley brings in another impressive offensive weapon and furthers the reshaping of the face of the Georgia pass catchers, which began in earnest last cycle. It’s also just another feather in the cap for what the Bulldogs have done at the tight end position since Hartley took the reins in Athens. Meanwhile, Green brings the physicality and high level athleticism to the back end that drew Kirby Smart in to take a prominent and personal role in the recruitment. Will he function as a STAR or safety for the Bulldogs? It may matter very little, as he’ll have time to learn under fellow former Buford star KJ Bolden once he makes his way to Athens. That should be quite the tutelage.
Will Tyler Atkinson decide the No. 1 class ranking?
Georgia was not yet ranked as the top class in the cycle when we recorded this episode, and their hold on the spot is tight as is. Does that set them up to have Atkinson be the deciding factor to assure dominance in the final rankings? Could a guy like Valdin Sone also help set that tone? There seem to be a number of differing routes to ensure the lock on the top spot, but in the minds of most, it definitely begins with the top linebacker in the Peach State…and for good reason.
Wes Johnson and company bring back a major piece for Georgia baseball
Tre Phelps was a consistent weapon for the Diamond Dawgs last season, and over the weekend, he announced he’d be running it back with his squad, rather than test the waters of the majors. It’s a major shot in the arm and gives Georgia some much needed experience, leadership, and swagger.
