The Georgia Show: Dawgs make it nine straight vs. the Vols

Georgia over Tennessee in a thriller!
There was no shortage of words to use when it came to this game, from back and forth to stunning to jaw dropping…you can pick your poison, but it’s safe to say that no one will forget this one for a long time. Georgia pulled out a slug fest with the Vols on Rocky Top, and it was thanks to some very impressive play from the man under center. We look back on Gunner’s coming out party from the in-house perspective of Jake Rowe and Rusty Mansell, plus what it could mean for the Georgia quarterback moving forward. Does this feel like the offense is back on the right foot after some head scratching performances in the first two weeks?
What went wrong…
It certainly wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the Dawgs on Saturday, however, as the offensive line rotation, particularly on the right side, had many scratching their heads and wondering if this revolving door will stop spinning at some point. Who may be poised to seize the reins? Could we potentially be looking at two true freshmen holding down spots? What about Earnest Greene’s health? On the flip side, the defensive performance was, at times, befuddling, and there’s no question that the secondary is going to have to play better moving forward if Georgia is to continue its success to this point in the season.
How does a Georgia bye week look?
The Bulldogs need to focus on getting healthy over the course of the bye week, with the Alabama Crimson Tide on the horizon in their first return to Sanford Stadium in a decade. But where else can Georgia improve? Settling the offensive line will certainly be a key moving forward. Perhaps the safety spot will get some clarity, as well. Safe to say, there’s no rest even on the off week…for Georgia or us.
