The Georgia Show: Narrative surrounding Georgia and NIL
There seems to be a narrative forming when it comes to Georgia and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness). Outside of a few individuals who don’t seem to follow the team very closely, it doesn’t seem to be a national narrative.
A not-small amount of people inside the Georgia fan base are convinced that the Bulldogs are struggling to be a player in the NIL space. Those same people seem to be convinced that NIL is the most important factor out there. Meanwhile, Georgia is coming off the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class, after signing the No. 1 class, and there is very little reason to suspect that the program won’t be within striking distance again in 2026.
Jake Reuse and I do our best to try and quiet that narrative a bit on the latest episode of The Georgia Show. Losing Jackson Cantwell, reportedly to a huge NIL deal from Miami, stings a lot. The Bulldogs recruited him hard and wanted him on the roster in the worst way. No one is debating that. But missing out on top talent is nowhere near the norm now, nor has it ever been under Kirby Smart.

We get into what Georgia has done well on the trail and how Miami deserves some credit for being able to stomach such an offer. If the reported figures are true, and we’re told that they’re close, then the Hurricanes made a statement to the Cantwell’s with their offer.
Georgia is on to the next top prospect and the focus turns to the Scavenger Hunt this weekend. Reuse and I get into that a little but we take more time to preview the next six weeks. Outside of Memorial Day weekend, which kicks off in eight days, Georgia will be full-go when it comes to hosting visitors. Many of those will be of the official variety and those will be taking place all over the country. There will be moves made, commitments, and more.
