Georgia bounces back against Kentucky

Kirby Smart and company handled business in a major way on Saturday, with a convincing win over the Wildcats and some solid play on a number of fronts. Does this wash the taste of the previous week’s loss out of the mouth? It’s a mixed bag on that front, but we’re diving in for the full look back on the weekend that was for Georgia.

A key injury?

Georgia’s offensive line suffered another blow on Saturday, with left tackle Monroe Freeling leaving the game and being unable to return. His status ahead of Auburn seemingly remains up in the air, though Kirby Smart seemed a bit more optimistic on Monday. Micah Morris also dealt with an additional injury, on top of his lingering issues this season, as his shoulder came out during Saturday’s contest. The Dawgs were forced to make some substitutions along the way, but overall, they came out looking strong, with much credit to Bo Hughley, especially. Stacy Searels’ unit seems to be improving and gelling each week, something they didn’t do much of at all last season.

What went right and where can Georgia still improve?

The pass rush is still lacking for the Dawgs, but it’s clear that teams do still have some respect for what Georgia does in that regard given how quickly most teams are working to get the ball out of the quarterback’s hands. Meanwhile, Chauncey Bowens continues to handle RB1 duties quite admirably, and Nate Frazier seems to have had his own bit of bounce back this past weekend. How about some tight end usage and Dillon Bell getting involved? Feels a very positive development there on both fronts.

Turning the page to Auburn

Georgia is now gearing up for a matchup under the lights at Jordan-Hare, which is never a small task. What’s our early take on how this one shapes up? How can Georgia find success in a hostile environment? We’re breaking it down.
