The Georgia Show: What did we learn in the win over Marshall?

What can we take away from the win over Marshall?
The Dawgs handled business in the expected way on Saturday, taking down Marshall and even almost covering the spread…though they didn’t get there once again. We kick things off by looking at the whole picture and diving in on an important question — what can you really take from this win over a clearly overmatched opponent? Who caught our eyes in the early goings of the season, including flashes of brilliance from the likes of Zachariah Branch and Dwight Phillips. Plus, there’s a lot of quarterback chatter to get to. Both guys did good things, and we’re evaluating each performance from the man under center for Georgia.
Grading the Georgia offense
As we turn our attention from the overarching view to the specifics, we dive in on the quarterback room a bit further, as well as discussing a revamped room of pass catchers for the Bulldogs. Who managed to catch our eyes? Safe to say the aforementioned Branch earned his praise, but who else shook things up for the Dawgs on Saturday? What of this offensive front? And how about Georgia coming out and scoring plenty before half. That had to have folks feeling a bit better. It certainly did us.
Grading the Georgia defense
While it looks as if the offense may continue to take some time to gel through the first two games, the defense looks like a complete product from the rip, with plenty of speed and swarm to go around. KJ Bolden flashed early, and Gabe Harris has Georgia fans wondering if he could be the next big thing defensively. Raylen Wilson certainly didn’t hold back in Game 1 either. Also, how about those freshmen? Elijah Griffin and Dominick Kelly made their presence felt on Saturday, as well.
