Georgia vs. Austin Peay: What Happened?

Before we dive in on what’s ahead and where the Dawgs go from here, it’s important to reflect on what was, which was a headscratching performance against a clearly physically overmatched team. In some respects, there were positives, including the defense continuing to look stout and the running game appearing to be well ahead of where it was last season. On the flipside, however, the offensive line is still finding its footing and the quarterback play is still leaving plenty to be desired. Georgia handled business against the Governors, but it was not nearly as convincing as anyone would have hoped it would be.

So, where does the offense go from here?

We’ve been consistent in saying that the highs and lows of the first two weeks should be taken with a heavy grain of salt, as the Dawgs were facing better competition in their scrimmages than on the field either week. Still, if you’re wondering if Gunner Stockton, Mike Bobo, and Stacy Searels are up to the take, well, you’re not alone. We dive in on if the Dawgs can right the ship when it comes to the passing attack with a major matchup looming in Knoxville. What has to happen? The big takeaway — Stockton has to get out his head and make some of the throws we saw from him against the likes of Texas and Notre Dame. Pushing the ball down the field is imperative for this squad moving forward.

An early look at Georgia/Tennessee

The Bulldogs are staring down the barrel of a major SEC matchup this weekend, with the Tennessee Volunteers looming large and kickoff set for 3:30 in Neyland Stadium. We stack up the first two weeks of each team, what the Bulldogs have to do to be successful, and why we’ll know a lot more about where Georgia stacks up come the final whistle on Saturday.
