Keith Mitchell is living out the family dream at The Open this year. And he’ll give a lot of Georgia bulldogs one more reason to bark when they tune in to watch the final major in golf (still feels weird to write that) this week.

Mitchell is from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He played golf in Athens. But he has a connection to St. Andrews unlike any other American golfer in the field this week.

His sister, Brindley, attended the University of St. Andrews from 2009 to 2013. Mitchell’s father, Jerry, is a member of the R&A.

Mitchell qualified for The Open at the RBC Canadian Open last month. He says he’s played The Old Course “a bunch,” but it’s been a decade since he’s been back.

If you’ve ever been to St. Andrews, it’s hard to forget it.

“I remember my dad took me over when I was probably 10 years old,” Mitchell told PGATour.com.

“And that really opened my eyes to the game of golf. If you’re a 10-year-old getting to play that place, it’s — I’m very fortunate, very lucky — but it’s a life-changing experience to the point where I can stand here now and say that I’m going to play in the Open Championship there.”

Maybe Keith Mitchell’s memory helps him at The Open. Here are the other Dawgs’ odds:

Six other former Georgia golf stars will take on the Old Course in the 150th Open this week. Mitchell has the best odds out of all the Dawgs in the field.

Here are their odds to take home that old Claret Jug, according to VegasInsider:

Keith Mitchell +11000
Russell Henley +14000
Brian Harman +16000
Kevin Kisner +16000
Harris English +19000
Chris Kirk +28000
Sepp Straka +42000

It’s the Year of the Dawg, and none of them have won a major yet. Now’s the time, lads.
