A trio of young Georgia players were honored on Thursday by being named to the coaches’ Freshman All-SEC team. The group includes two true freshmen and one redshirt freshman.

Chauncey Bowens stands along in the latter category and is the only skill player on the list. Starting right guard Dontrell Glover made the cut, as did defensive tackle Elijah Griffin.

Bowens was Georgia’s leading rusher about midway through the season. He’s currently second on the team, behind Nate Frazier, with 98 carries for 516 yards and six scores while catching 14 passes for 82 yards.

Bowens, a Florida native, had his best game in late September when he hung 119 yards and a touchdown on Alabama while needing just 12 carries to get there. He has rushed for at least 50 yards in five games of the 11 games he has played in 2025.

Glover has been Georgia’s starting right guard since the end of September. He has started 10 straight games at that spot while playing in all 13 to this point. He didn’t arrive at UGA until the summer, but has caught on quickly enough that he has also rotated over to left guard at different points in the year. Glover was also named to the On3 True Freshman All-American team earlier this week.

The Langston Hughes High School product was a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, ranking as the nation’s No. 378 overall player per the Rivals Industry Rankings, a weighted average that includes all three websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the No. 28 interior offensive lineman and the No. 48 player in Georgia. He has helped Georgia’s offense rank No. 2 nationally in touchdown percentage in the red zone and No. 1 nationally in fourth-down conversions.

Griffin, the crown jewel of Georgia’s 2025 recruiting class, has been a key cog on Georgia’s defensive line this season. He hasn’t started a game, but he has played in all 13.

The Savannah native has registered the second most snaps of Georgia’s interior defensive linemen, tallying 18 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one pass breakup. As a prospect, Griffin finished the 2025 cycle as the nation’s No. 3 ranked prospect, No. 1 defensive lineman, and No. 1 player in Georgia per the Rivals Industry Rankings.
