KJ Bolden has a lot of Bulldog company on the Bednarik watch list. The sophomore safety was announced on Monday, just ahead of three other Georgia teammates. According to a tweet from the official UGA Football account, Bolden is joined by senior cornerback Daylen Everette, fourth-year junior defensive lineman Christen Miller, and junior linebacker CJ Allen.

The award is presented annually to the defensive player of the year and it comes from the Maxwell Football Club. Jordan Davis was the last Bulldog to win the award, doing so in 2021. David Pollack was the first Georgia player to win it. He did it in 2004.

Everette is Georgia’s most experienced returining defender, having started two full seasons already. He had three interceptions and 58 total tackles as a junior. He also forced a pair of fumblers and generated four turnovers against Texas in two matchups. Everette is also on the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award watch list with Bolden.

Miller is entering his third season as a major contributor but his second as a starter. He finished last season with 27 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. The Cedar Grove High School standout, who signed with Georgia in the 2022 class, missed a pair of games with a serious shoulder injury. Miller is also on the watch list for the Outland Trophy.

Allen started five games as a freshman and moved into a full-time starting role last season. He registered 76 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and an interception on the year. Allen has also been named to the watch lists for the Butkus Award and the Nagurski Trophy.

Allen, Bolden, Everette, and Miller are all on another preseason list. Each was voted to the preseason All-SEC team by league media last month.
