Georgia was able to lure veteran defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson away from Alabama last week with Will Muschamp moving into an on-field analyst role to spend more time with his family. The Bulldogs gave Robinson the title of co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach and they’ll pay him $1.3 million according to information obtained by DawgsHQ via open records request.

That salary makes Robinson the second highest paid assistant coach at Georgia. According to the USAToday coaches salary database, Robinson made $800,000 at Alabama in 2023.

Defensive coordinator and outside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann is the highest paid at $1.9 million per year. Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Mike Bobo makes $1 million per year, giving the Bulldogs three assistants in seven figures.

Now that he has stepped into an off-field role, Muschamp will get paid $50,000 in 2024. That’s down from the $855,000 he made in 2023. His salary was going to move to $905,000 in on July 1, 2024 if he had stayed in his former role.

Robinson and Muschamp are quite familiar with one another. The two spent 10 straight years with one another at three different SEC schools. Robinson was Muschamp’s defensive backs coach at Florida for four seasons from 2011 to 2014.

When Muschamp was hired as the defensive coordinator at Auburn in 2015, Robinson went with him and coached for a season at his alma mater. South Carolina hired Muschamp at the end of that 2015 season and Robinson went with him as the defensive coordinator, holding that post for five seasons.

Georgia brought Muschamp on staff after he was fired during the 2020 season. Robinson finished that season with the Gamecocks but moved on to Miami in 2021. He spent one year there before jumping to Alabama where he spent two seasons.
